| Ron Pugh |
Although Pugh has only been painting in miniature for four years he has already received accolades, winning the inaugural Tasmanian Miniature Society award exhibition in 2004 and
also taking out "Best Miniature in Oil" at the Queensland Miniature Art Society annual awards in 2005.
A miniature painting as defined by the Society of the World Federation of Miniaturists must have a surface area of no more than 100sq cms. and must show a degree of miniaturization of the subject. Originating as small paintings of loved-ones, they were carried by knights into battle and given as love tokens between betrothed. Now miniature paintings are collected worldwide and depict all subjects from portraits to landscapes.
